The D4 Series 12-Pin connector — the plug half of the D4 interface — is supplied in white. The D4 carries a twelve-position signal block alongside the power contacts. The blue latch gives a positive lock with a visible release, so the state of the connection is readable at a glance.
It is used on handpieces that need a high signal count, such as multi-function platforms with sensors and feedback. Twelve signal positions allow separate runs for sensing, feedback and control instead of multiplexing them onto a few wires. It is specified when a handpiece reports more than a simple on/off state and the cable cannot grow another connector.
